4-inch vs 5-inch angle grinder: which size should you buy?

Corded grinders are cheaper, lighter for the power they deliver, and run all day on 220V. 12V Cordless Mini Angle Grinder Kit (Rs 8,000)
A compact cut-off tool that uses 76mm (3-inch) discs and spins at about 19,500 RPM. It comes with two batteries, a charger and two cutting discs. It is excellent for thin sheet, conduit, copper pipe, bolts and tile trimming in tight spaces such as under sinks or inside engine bays, but it is not a replacement for a 4-inch grinder. The 76mm discs are less common than 4-inch discs, so buy spares when you can.

Cutter machine or grinder? Cutting saria, pipes and tiles
In Pakistan, "cutter machine" can mean two different tools: a 4-inch grinder fitted with a thin cutting or diamond disc, which tile and marble fitters use every day, or a 14-inch chop saw for metal. A handheld grinder is fine for occasional cuts. For repeated straight cuts in pipe, angle iron and saria, a stand or a chop saw gives cleaner results and is safer.

Pakistan-specific advice: power, heat, dust and discs
Power supply. All our corded grinders run on 220V. Most home UPS and inverter systems are not designed for an 850W motor, so use mains or a generator. When voltage drops, the disc slows down; let it reach full speed before you start a cut.
Dust and heat. Marble, tile and concrete dust is hard on motors. Blow out the vents after every job, and do not block them with your hand while gripping. Safety mistakes to avoid
- Removing the guard. People do it to fit a bigger disc or see the cut line. Never do this; a shattered disc throws fragments hard enough to cause serious injury.
- Side-grinding with a thin cutting disc. Cutting discs are not built for side loads and can break.
- Skipping the side handle. Two hands give you control if the disc binds.
- Working without eye and face protection. Sparks and disc fragments go everywhere, and marble dust needs a mask.
- Putting the grinder down while the disc is still spinning. Wait for it to stop completely.
