Both models share the features that matter day to day: a closed-loop handguard that keeps your hand away from hot surfaces, a two-stage rocker switch on the grip, and a flat back so the gun can stand upright on a bench for hands-free work like shrinking sleeves or bending conduit. In both boxes you get the gun and a user manual. There are no extra nozzles, so don't expect a full accessory kit.

What a Heat Gun Does (and What It Doesn't)
A heat gun pushes a narrow stream of very hot air through a metal nozzle. At several hundred degrees it softens paint, glue, plastic and vinyl within seconds, which is why painters, electricians, wrap installers and plumbers all keep one. It is not a hair dryer, and it will burn skin and hair instantly.
It is also not the same thing as an electric air blower, even though sellers often use "hot air blower" for both. A blower moves a large volume of room-temperature air to clean dust or dry surfaces. If you need that, a heat gun is the wrong tool and will scorch whatever you point it at.
12 Practical Uses of a Heat Gun
- Stripping old paint and varnish. Run Stage 2 over wooden doors, window frames and old furniture until the paint blisters, then lift it with a scraper. Keep the gun moving so you don't scorch the wood underneath.
- Removing stickers and decals. Dealer stickers on car glass, old bike decals and shop labels peel off cleanly once the glue softens. On painted panels use the low stage and hold the gun 10–15 cm away.
- Vinyl car wrapping and tint film. Wrap installers use gentle heat to stretch vinyl around bumpers and mirrors, then post-heat the edges so they don't lift in summer.
- Heat-shrink sleeves on wire joints. Electricians, solar installers and auto electricians shrink insulation sleeves over joints and terminal lugs. The low stage is plenty; too much heat melts cable insulation.
- Bending PVC electrical conduit. Warm a section of conduit evenly while rotating it, then bend it by hand. A bending spring inside the pipe stops it from kinking and saves you buying elbows for surface wiring.
- Bending acrylic sheet for signboards. Sign and display makers soften acrylic along a line to make stands, covers and letters. Heat slowly and evenly; rushing it causes bubbles.
- Shrink-wrap packaging. Small home businesses shrink film over gift hampers, bottles and boxes. A steady sweep on the low stage gives a tight, clean finish.
- Loosening stuck nuts and threadlocked screws. Heat makes a seized nut expand slightly and softens thread-locker so it turns more easily. It won't match a gas torch on large rusted bolts, but it helps on small fasteners.
- Lifting old silicone, tile adhesive and vinyl floor tiles. Warm silicone around a sink or bathtub peels away instead of crumbling, and vinyl floor tiles release faster. Our tile installation tools guide covers what comes after removal.
- Thawing frozen water lines. In Quetta, Murree, Gilgit-Baltistan and other cold areas, exposed pipes freeze on winter nights. Use the low stage, keep moving and never concentrate heat on one spot of a plastic pipe.
- Drying filler, putty and glue faster. A quick pass dries wood filler, small wall-putty patches and epoxy repairs so you can sand sooner. Don't try to dry a whole wall this way; the surface dries before the inside.
- Reshaping and repairing plastic. Warped plastic trims, bike fairing tabs and storage boxes can be eased back into shape with gentle heat. Basic plastic welding is possible with filler rods, but it takes patience and practice.
Dartek vs ZAIN MAX: Which 2000W Heat Gun Should You Buy?
On paper the two are close: same 2000W rating, two-stage switch, closed-loop handle and flat back for standing upright. The differences are small but real, and they decide which one suits your work.
Dartek 2000W (Rs 4,800) — best value for general work
The Dartek is Rs 200 cheaper and its listing specifically mentions a built-in thermal cutoff that protects the coil and motor from overheating. Airflow is listed at 300–500 L/min. For painters, carpenters, homeowners and general workshop use (paint stripping, sticker removal, PVC bending), this is the sensible pick.
ZAIN MAX HG6001 (Rs 5,000) — better for delicate work
The HG6001 publishes a wider low range: Stage I runs 50–450°C at 250 L/min. Gentler airflow matters on vinyl, tint film and heat-shrink, where strong air blows the film around or scorches nearby insulation. The rubberised soft grip also helps during long wrap sessions. Wrap and tint installers, electricians and solar installers should spend the extra Rs 200.
How to Choose a Hot Air Gun in Pakistan
Wattage and household wiring
2000W is the standard rating for a workshop heat gun. It draws roughly 9 amps at 220V, so plug it straight into a proper power socket rather than a thin extension reel or a multi-plug already running an iron or heater. Thin cords heat up and drop voltage, and the gun then heats less.
Voltage drops and load shedding
In many areas evening voltage dips well below 220V. On low voltage a heat gun warms slowly and the coil is under stress, and running a heating element on very low voltage is one of the most common ways to burn it out. If your lights are visibly dim, wait for the supply to recover. Most home UPS and inverter setups used during load shedding are sized for fans and lights, not a 2000W heating load, so don't run a heat gun on one. Read our warranty policy to see how voltage-related damage is handled.
Temperature control
Two stages cover the vast majority of jobs because distance is your real temperature control: move closer for more heat, back off for less. Guns with digital displays exist, but neither of these has one, and you only need that precision for specialist plastic work.
Heat Gun or Air Blower? Pick the Right Tool
| Tool | What it does | Typical jobs | Price at Punjab Tools |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2000W heat gun | Very hot air from a narrow nozzle | Paint, vinyl, heat-shrink, PVC, stickers | Rs 4,800 – 5,000 |
| Dartek 680W Air Blower PBL01-32 | Room-temperature air, 16,000 RPM, 4.0 m³/min | Dust in PCs and AC fins, sawdust, drying car interiors | Rs 7,300 |
| Dartek 680W Variable Speed Blower | Same 680W motor with an 8,000–16,000 RPM dial, plus suction | Delicate electronics to heavy workshop dust | Rs 8,150 |
If you clean computers, solar inverters or split AC fins, choose the single-speed Dartek 680W Air Blower PBL01-32 or the Dartek 680W Variable Speed Air Blower instead of a heat gun. And if you are joining PPR water pipes, neither tool is right: that needs a PPR fusion machine, explained in our PPR plumbing tools guide.

Common Mistakes and Safety Rules
- Laying a hot gun on its side. The nozzle stays hot for several minutes after switch-off. Stand it on its flat back to cool, away from cloth, plastic and curtains.
- Blocking the airflow. Pressing the nozzle against the work or covering the rear intake starves the element of air and overheats it.
- Staying in one spot. Concentrated heat scorches wood, cracks glass, blisters car paint and melts PVC. Keep the gun moving.
- Using high heat on plastics. Overheated PVC and vinyl give off harmful fumes. Use the low stage and work with ventilation.
- Burning old paint until it smokes. Old paint on older houses may contain lead. Soften it, don't burn it, and wear a mask.
- Using it on circuit boards. A 2000W gun is far too strong for phone or laptop repair; that work needs a hot-air rework station.
For general rules on eye protection, cords and workshop habits, read our power tool safety guide.
Our Recommendation
- Best value for most buyers: the Dartek 2000W heat gun at Rs 4,800. It handles paint, stickers, PVC and heat-shrink without fuss.
- Best for wrap, tint and electrical work: the ZAIN MAX HG6001 at Rs 5,000, for its gentler low stage and soft grip.
- Don't buy a heat gun if you mainly need to blow dust, join PPR pipes or repair electronics. Each of those needs a different tool.
