The best cordless drill in Pakistan for most buyers is a 21V model with two batteries and a hammer mode, which costs Rs 12,000–18,500 at Punjab Tools. Our value pick is the Sared SR-CD-2101-BL at Rs 12,000, the only brushless drill we stock. Choose the Zain Max 21V Heavy Duty Cordless Impact Drill (Rs 18,500) if you need a 13mm chuck for bigger bits, and a 12V drill (Rs 4,200) only if you mainly drive screws and drill wood.

Every kit includes a charger according to its listing. The 21V kits all include two batteries, which matters more in Pakistan than almost anywhere else: one battery works while the other charges during the hours you have power.

12V vs 21V: which voltage do you need?

"21V" is the peak voltage of a five-cell lithium battery when fully charged. It is the same class of tool that is sold as 18V or 20V Max in other markets, so do not assume a 21V drill is stronger than an 18V one. A 12V drill uses a smaller pack and a smaller motor.

Buy 12V if you assemble furniture, fix cabinet hinges, drive screws into wood, or want a light tool for the house. Buy 21V if you need to drill brick walls for wall plugs, work on site, or use the drill every day. If you buy a 12V drill and later need to hang a TV bracket on a brick wall, you will end up buying a second drill.

Brushless vs brushed: is it worth paying for?

A brushed motor uses carbon brushes that rub against the spinning part of the motor to deliver power. They wear out over time and create friction and heat. A brushless motor replaces them with electronic switching, so it runs cooler, wastes less battery and has fewer parts to wear.

In Pakistan's summer heat, cooler running is a real advantage, both for the motor and for the battery. The surprise in our range is that brushless costs less, not more: the Sared SR-CD-2101-BL is Rs 12,000, while the Zain Max kits cost Rs 12,500 to Rs 18,500 and do not state their motor type. What you give up with the Sared is the 13mm chuck and a stated battery capacity.

Brushed drills are not bad tools. They are simple and cheap to repair. Many budget 21V drills use a 775-size brushed DC motor, and if one burns out after years of work, our 775 High-Torque 21V DC Motor costs Rs 850. Confirm the fit with us on WhatsApp before ordering.

Why a cordless drill makes sense in Pakistan

Load shedding. A corded drill is useless when the power is off, and most home UPS systems are not meant to run a 1,000W motor. A charged cordless drill keeps working. Charge both batteries whenever power is available so you always have a full spare.

Sites without power. Under-construction houses, open plots, farms, tube wells and rooftop solar installations often have no socket nearby. Electricians, solar installers and AC fitters save a lot of time by not running extension leads.

Heat. Lithium batteries age faster in heat. Do not charge a battery straight after heavy use; let it cool first. Never leave batteries in a parked car or on a roof in the sun. Our cordless battery care guide explains how to make them last through Pakistani summers.

Light during power cuts. Our Cordless Power Tool LED Work Light (Rs 1,150) slides onto 14.4V to 21V slide-style batteries and turns your spare into a work light. Check that your battery's slide matches before you order.

Dust. Brick and cement dust clogs motor vents and settles on battery contacts. After site work, blow out the vents and wipe the battery terminals; a dirty contact can feel exactly like a weak battery.

Can a cordless drill make holes in brick and concrete walls?

Brick and plaster, yes. A 21V drill in hammer mode handles the 6mm and 8mm holes most wall plugs (gitti) need for curtain rods, shelves and TV brackets. The 13mm chuck on the Zain Max Heavy Duty also lets you use larger masonry bits.

Dense RCC concrete in roofs, beams and columns is a different story. A cordless hammer drill will drill it slowly, heat up and drain batteries fast. If you drill into concrete regularly, you need a rotary hammer; our guide to rotary hammer vs impact drill explains why.

Who should not buy a cordless drill

  • Contractors who mainly drill concrete. Buy an SDS Plus rotary hammer first. Prices start at Rs 7,000, less than any 21V kit.
  • Homeowners with reliable power who only need wall plugs. A corded impact drill such as the Sared SR-EID-J1301 at Rs 7,000 is cheaper and drills brick faster.
  • People who will use it twice a year. Lithium batteries age even when unused, so an occasional user often gets better value from a corded drill.

Buying checklist: six things to check

  1. Number of batteries and capacity. Two batteries is the practical minimum for work. A higher Ah rating means longer runtime per charge.
  2. Charger included. All our drill kits list a charger, but always check the box contents of any cordless tool.
  3. Chuck size. 10mm keyless suits most home jobs; 13mm takes bigger bits for steel, wood and masonry.
  4. Modes and torque settings. A hammer mode is essential for brick. More torque settings give finer control when driving screws.
  5. Spare battery availability. Batteries with the same voltage often do not fit other brands' tools, so buy into a range where spares are easy to find.
  6. Warranty and returns. Read our warranty policy before you buy so you know what is covered.

Our verdict

For most electricians, fitters and serious homeowners, the Sared SR-CD-2101-BL is the best cordless drill in Pakistan for the money: brushless, three modes, two batteries, Rs 12,000. Spend Rs 18,500 on the Zain Max 21V Heavy Duty if you need a 13mm chuck and stated 2.0Ah batteries. Pick the ZAIN MAX Full Kit if you also want a set of hand tools in the same box, and the 12V kit if you will only drive screws.

Which cordless drill for your trade

  • Electricians: the Sared SR-CD-2101-BL for switchboard screws and wall plugs, alongside a corded rotary hammer for conduit work in concrete.
  • AC and solar installers: the Zain Max 21V Heavy Duty, because its 13mm chuck takes larger bits for brackets and mounting frames.
  • Carpenters and furniture makers: any 21V kit with torque settings; the ZAIN MAX Full Kit includes 12mm and 16mm spade bits for wood.
  • Homeowners: the ZAIN MAX Full Kit covers drilling, screws and basic repairs in one case, or the 12V kit if you only assemble furniture.
