A drill machine price in Pakistan starts at about Rs 4,200 for a 12V cordless drill-driver, Rs 7,000–8,000 for a 13mm corded impact drill, Rs 7,000–17,000 for an SDS Plus rotary hammer and Rs 12,000–18,500 for a 21V cordless kit. For most homes, a corded impact drill is the best value. If you drill into RCC roofs, beams and columns every week, go straight to a rotary hammer.

Below you will find current prices for every drill machine we stock, what each type can and cannot do, and which one to buy for your work.

As the table shows, the drill machine price in Pakistan depends far more on the type of tool than on the brand. Notice too that the cheapest useful drill for a Pakistani home is not the 12V cordless. It is the Rs 7,000 corded impact drill, because it drills brick walls for wall plugs, which a small 12V drill-driver cannot do well.

The four types of drill machine, explained

Shops call everything a "drill machine", but there are four quite different tools under that name. Buying the wrong type is the most common and most expensive mistake we see.

Cordless drill-driver (from Rs 4,200)

A small battery drill made for screws, furniture assembly and holes in wood, plastic and thin metal. The 12V kit we stock has a 10mm keyless chuck, 18+1 torque settings so you do not strip screw heads, and a 1.3Ah lithium battery. It is light enough to use with one hand and keeps working during load shedding.

It is the wrong tool for brick and concrete. If your main jobs are curtain rods and TV brackets on brick walls, buy an impact drill instead.

Corded impact drill (Rs 7,000–8,000)

Also sold as a hammer drill. It has a 13mm chuck that takes ordinary round-shank bits, plus a switch that adds a hammering action for brick and plaster. The Sared SR-EID-J1301 is rated for 13mm holes in concrete, 10mm in steel and 25mm in wood, which covers almost every household job.

Most plastic wall plugs (gitti) for curtain rods, shelves and TV mounts need a 6mm or 8mm hole, and an impact drill makes that in brick within seconds. Where it struggles is dense RCC concrete, especially when you are drilling upward into a roof slab.

SDS Plus rotary hammer (Rs 7,000–17,000)

In Pakistani markets this is often called a "Hilti machine", whatever the brand. Instead of the light clicking action of an impact drill, a rotary hammer uses a piston to strike the bit, and its impact energy is measured in joules. Every rotary hammer we stock is rated for 26–28mm holes in concrete and has three modes: drill only, hammer drill, and chisel only for wall chasing (jhari) and tile removal.

Rotary hammers use SDS Plus bits, which push into the chuck without a key. They are heavier and overkill for hanging a picture, but for split AC brackets, anchor bolts, water tank stands and electrical conduit in RCC, they are the right tool.

21V cordless drill kits (Rs 12,000–18,500)

Most of these kits combine a drill, screwdriver and hammer mode on a 21V lithium battery, usually with two batteries and a case full of bits. They suit electricians and fitters who work in unfinished buildings without a power connection, or anyone who needs to work through load shedding. They are not a replacement for a rotary hammer in concrete.

We compare these in detail in our best cordless drill in Pakistan guide.

Drill machine for home use: what most families actually need

A typical Pakistani house has brick walls with plaster, and an RCC roof, beams and columns. Here is the honest answer for that kind of home:

  • Curtains, shelves, mirrors and TV brackets on brick walls: a 13mm corded impact drill, Rs 7,000 to 8,000.
  • Furniture assembly, cabinet hinges and screws only: a 12V cordless drill-driver, Rs 4,200.
  • Anchor bolts into the roof slab, a beam or a column: a rotary hammer. An impact drill will get there eventually, but it will overheat and you will be fighting it overhead.
  • Both screws and wall plugs, with no socket nearby: a 21V cordless kit with a hammer mode.

If you are buying only one tool for the home, the impact drill gives the most jobs per rupee. Add a rotary hammer later if you start renovation work.

Budget vs premium rotary hammers: what the extra money buys

The Rs 7,000 and Rs 17,000 rotary hammers look similar in photos, so it is fair to ask why one costs more than double. Here is what the listings actually show.

ModelPriceListed specs worth noting
GBM 2-26 RE Professional Rotary Hammer DrillRs 7,0002.7 J impact energy, 26mm, copper winding
Hilti Style HL2-28 Professional Rotary Hammer DrillRs 7,50028mm capacity, copper winding
Dartek PRH15 Professional 26mm Rotary Hammer DrillRs 15,0003 SDS bits, 2 chisels, spare carbon brushes, depth gauge and case included
MAX 26mm Heavy Duty Rotary Hammer DrillRs 15,000Copper winding, 360-degree side handle, depth rod
Dartek 02-26R Heavy Duty Rotary Hammer DrillRs 17,0001050W, 4.5 J, 4,500 BPM, 940 RPM, die-cast aluminium gear housing

The clearest number is impact energy: 4.5 J on the Dartek 02-26R against 2.7 J on the GBM 2-26 RE. More energy per blow means faster holes in hard concrete and less pushing from you. For an electrician drilling a handful of holes a day, a budget model is fine; for a contractor running a machine all day, the extra cost buys speed and a metal gear housing built to shed heat.

Also look at what comes in the box. The Dartek PRH15 includes bits, chisels and spare carbon brushes that you would otherwise buy separately.

Pakistan-specific advice before you buy

Voltage and UPS. All corded drills here are 220V tools. Most home UPS and inverter setups are sized for fans and lights, not a 1,000W motor, so drill on mains or a generator. In areas where voltage drops on summer evenings, the motor runs slower and hotter, so give it rest breaks.

Extension leads. A long, thin extension cord starves the motor. Use a proper copper extension with thick cable and unroll it fully on site.

Dust and heat. Brick and concrete dust is abrasive. Blow out the motor vents after each job and do not leave tools in a hot car or on a roof in June. Corded drills use carbon brushes that wear over time; when sparking increases or power drops, replace them.

Bits and spares. Impact drills use ordinary round-shank masonry, wood and HSS bits sold in every hardware market. Rotary hammers need SDS Plus bits, which are also widely available but cost more. To get more jobs out of any drill, see our drill attachments guide.

Common mistakes when buying a drill machine

  1. Buying a 12V drill for walls. It will drill the plaster, then stall at the brick behind it.
  2. Making an impact drill do rotary hammer work. Chasing conduit through a whole house or drilling dozens of holes in RCC will cook an impact drill. Rotary hammers start at Rs 7,000, so there is no reason to burn one out.
  3. Ignoring chuck size. A 10mm chuck limits bit size. If you drill 12mm or 13mm holes in steel or wood, choose a 13mm chuck.
  4. Leaving hammer mode on for tiles and metal. Hammering cracks glazed tiles and blunts metal bits. Drill through the tile in drill-only mode, then switch to hammer for the brick behind it.
  5. Comparing on price alone. Check what is in the box. Batteries, charger, bits, chisels and a carrying case can add up to thousands of rupees.
