Drill attachments costing Rs 1,200 to Rs 3,800 at Punjab Tools let an ordinary drill machine cut wood and sheet metal, pull rivets, drive screws in tight corners, feed drywall screws automatically, and ream or thread PPR pipe. They are excellent value for occasional jobs and for tradesmen who want fewer machines in the bag. For all-day cutting or fastening, a dedicated tool is faster and safer.

Before you order, check one thing: how the attachment connects. Most fit into the chuck by a hex shank and work with almost any drill, but stands, guides and the auto-feed screw adapter clamp around the drill's neck and need the right collar size. Match the attachment to your drill

Most drill attachments fail because they were paired with the wrong drill, not because they are poorly made. Run through these checks:

  • Hex-shank attachments go into any 10mm or 13mm chuck, and the 1/4-inch hex ones also fit quick-change drivers.
  • Collar-mounted attachments clamp around the drill's neck, not the chuck. Measure your drill before ordering: the guides take a 43mm collar, the 400mm stand takes 38–43mm, and the auto-feed screw adapter needs 45.5–46.5mm. Send us your drill model on WhatsApp if you are unsure.
  • Switch off hammer mode. Attachments need plain rotation. The rivet adapter listing specifically says to use standard drill mode, not hammer or impact.
  • Variable speed and reverse help. The rivet adapter ejects the broken stem in reverse, and the pipe threader works best at low to medium speed. Both the Sared SR-EID-J1301 (Rs 7,000) and the Dartek 13mm impact drill (Rs 8,000) are reversible with variable-speed triggers.
  • Battery size matters. The 12V compact drill (Rs 4,200, 1.3Ah battery) is fine for light attachments such as the right-angle head, reamers and smaller step-bit holes. Saw, nibbler and chainsaw adapters run longer on a 21V drill such as the brushless Sared SR-CD-2101-BL or on a corded drill. Our best cordless drill guide compares the options.

Drill stands and guides: straight holes without a drill press

A drill stand fixes the two biggest freehand problems: holes that wander off-angle and bits that skate on smooth surfaces.

  • Portable guides (Rs 2,500 and Rs 2,900): Both clamp a 43mm drill neck, tilt from 0 to 45°, and have a V-groove base for drilling into pipes and dowels. Bring them to the job: an installed door, a window frame or a cabinet side.
  • [Universal Electric Drill Stand Bracket 400mm](/product/universal-electric-drill-stand-bracket-400mm-bench-press-holder-with-aluminum-base) (Rs 3,800): A bench stand with a 400mm steel column, lever feed, depth scale and a 150 x 150mm aluminium base with slots for a small vice. Use it for repeat holes in a workshop.

The bench stand's 60mm maximum depth and light frame make it a hobby and light-workshop tool. It will not turn a drill into an industrial drill press for large holes in thick steel.

For tile, glass and marble, pair your drill with the Adjustable Glass & Tile Hole Locator (Rs 2,600). Its suction cup grips the surface and its bearings steady diamond core bits from 4mm to 83mm, so the bit does not wander and scratch the tile.

Drill to reciprocating saw, chainsaw and nibbler adapters

These turn rotation into cutting. They are slower than dedicated saws but cover the odd job well.

  • 3-in-1 Drill to Reciprocating Saw Adapter (Rs 1,800): Comes with wood, metal and general-purpose blades, a steel guide plate and a side handle. Good for pruning, PVC pipe and thin metal.
  • Portable Drill to Reciprocating Saw Adapter (Rs 2,400): Takes standard T-shank and universal reciprocating saw blades, so replacement blades are easier to source.
  • Drill to Mini Chainsaw Adapter (Rs 2,200): A short bar, chain, guard and side handle with an oiling port. Oil the chain before every session.
  • Drill Plate Cutter Attachment (Rs 2,100): A nibbler for iron sheet up to 1.0mm, tin sheet up to 1.2mm and copper or aluminium up to 1.5mm. It cuts without sparks, which suits ducting, roofing and car body work indoors.

Who should skip them: carpenters cutting boards daily should buy a circular saw (see our circular saw price guide), and anyone cutting firewood regularly is better served by the Sared 21V brushless chainsaw. Always use the side handle, because the drill's torque twists the adapter as it cuts.

Right-angle, rivet and auto-feed screw adapters

The 105 Degree Right Angle Drill Attachment (Rs 2,000) shifts the drive by 105° so you can reach screws inside drawers, cupboards, engine bays and under dashboards. It has ball bearings and a magnetic 1/4-inch bit holder. It is for screws and small holes, not for forcing seized bolts with an impact wrench.

The Electric Drill Rivet Gun Adapter (Rs 2,700) replaces a hand riveter for aluminium windows, shop doors, ducting and roofing sheets. It has interchangeable nozzles, typically for 2.4mm, 3.2mm, 4.0mm and 4.8mm blind rivets, and the listing recommends a 12V or stronger drill. Match the nozzle to the rivet to avoid jams.

The Automatic Chain Screw Gun Adapter (Rs 3,250) feeds screws from a 50-screw plastic strip each time you press forward, with a depth wheel so screws sit flush in gypsum board. It frees one hand to hold the sheet, which matters on false ceilings. Crews fixing ceilings all day may prefer the dedicated corded Concept auto-feed screw gun at Rs 13,000.

Plumbing drill attachments: PPR reamer, threader and step bits

Plumbers get some of the best value from drill attachments.

  • [PPR Pipe Reamer Drill Bit Set](/product/ppr-pipe-reamer-drill-bit-set-hex-shank-ppr-pvc-pipe-expand-tube-chamfer-tool) (Rs 1,200): Three stepped bits (15–19mm, 18–24mm, 24–31mm) on 1/4-inch hex shanks to deburr and chamfer PPR and PVC pipe ends before joining.
  • 2-in-1 Drill Powered Pipe Threader (Rs 1,250): Cuts both external and internal threads on 3/4-inch PPR and PVC, and rescues stripped threads in wall fittings without breaking the wall. Run it at low to medium speed.
  • Manual alternative: the PVC Pipe Threading Tool Kit (Rs 1,650) covers 1/2-inch, 3/4-inch and 1-inch NPT threads by hand, useful where you need sizes the drill threader does not cover.
  • HSS Step Drill Bit Set (Rs 1,250): 4–12mm, 4–20mm and 4–32mm cone bits for switch and DB box knockouts, sheet metal, PVC and thin wood, with no centre punch needed.

Our PPR pipe plumbing tools guide covers heat-fusion machines and the rest of the plumbing kit.

Safety and common mistakes

  1. Unplug or remove the battery before fitting, changing blades or adjusting a guide.
  2. Hammer mode left on is the fastest way to damage an attachment.
  3. Full speed on threaders and rivet adapters strips threads and jams nozzles. Start slow.
  4. No side handle on saw adapters lets the drill twist out of your grip when the blade binds.
  5. Overtightening a collar clamp on a drill neck that does not fit can damage the clamp. Measure first.
  6. Dry chains wear out fast on the mini chainsaw adapter. Keep the oiling port filled.
  7. Ignoring heat. In summer, saw and nibbler adapters load the drill heavily. Pause when the body gets hot, and charge batteries when power is on so load shedding does not stop the job.

Our picks by trade

  • Electricians: step drill bits, the right-angle attachment and a portable drill guide.
  • Plumbers: PPR reamer set, 2-in-1 threader and step bits.
  • Aluminium and glass fitters: rivet adapter plus the plate cutter.
  • Gypsum and false-ceiling crews: the auto-feed screw adapter.
  • Gardeners and homeowners: a reciprocating saw adapter for occasional pruning.
  • Carpenters: a portable drill guide for straight dowel holes and the right-angle head for cabinets.

No drill yet? The Sared SR-EID-J1301 (corded, 13mm, reversible, variable speed) at Rs 7,000 drives all the hex-shank attachments above; measure its neck before adding a collar-mounted stand or guide. If you also own a grinder, see our angle grinder attachments guide.
