A mini angle grinder is a small cut-off tool for small jobs in tight places. The 12V Cordless Mini Angle Grinder Kit costs Rs 8,000 at Punjab Tools and comes with two batteries, a charger and two 76mm (3-inch) cutting discs. It is very good at thin sheet, copper and PVC pipe, conduit, seized bolts and tile trims where a 4-inch grinder will not fit. It is not a replacement for a 4-inch grinder. If your work is gates, grills, angle iron or marble, buy a corded 4-inch grinder from Rs 4,800 or the 21V brushless cordless grinder at Rs 16,500.
People search for this tool as a 12 volt grinder, a rechargeable angle grinder, a portable angle grinder or simply a battery wala grinder. They all mean the same thing: a compact cordless grinder that takes 3-inch discs. Prices below are Punjab Tools prices, October 2026. Check the product page for today's price.

What a mini angle grinder can cut
The listing names thin steel sheet, rebar, copper tubing, stainless steel bolts, aluminium channel, ceramic wall tile, PVC pipe, plastic conduit, thin wooden trim, rust and small weld spots. That is a fair list, but some items need context. Here is how we would explain it to a customer at the counter.
| Job | Mini 12V grinder | Better tool if you do it often |
|---|---|---|
| Thin sheet metal, ducting, car body panels | Good | 4-inch grinder for long cuts |
| Copper pipe, PVC pipe, electrical conduit in tight spots | Good | Hacksaw or pipe cutter if there is room |
| Seized bolts, nuts, exhaust clamps, small brackets | Very good, this is its best job | None needed |
| Ceramic wall tile trims and notches | Good with a suitable 76mm disc | 4-inch grinder with a diamond disc for floor tile |
| Aluminium channel and window sections | Good for a few cuts | Grinder stand or chop saw for repeat cuts |
| Rebar (saria) | Odd pieces only | 4-inch corded grinder |
| Angle iron, box section, gate and grill frames | Slow, and the small disc runs out of depth | 4-inch or 5-inch corded grinder |
| Marble, granite, concrete | No | 4-inch or 5-inch grinder with a diamond disc |
| Wood | Only the odd thin trim | Circular saw or a proper wood tool |
The reason is simple geometry. A 76mm disc is about three-quarters the diameter of a 100mm disc, and part of that radius is taken up by the flange and guard, so it cuts much shallower than a 4-inch grinder. Discs also wear down as you cut, and every millimetre they lose is depth you lose. For thin material this does not matter. For thick sections it means cutting from several sides, which wastes discs and battery.
Wood deserves a separate warning. An abrasive disc does not cut wood so much as burn through it. The listing mentions thin wooden trim, and the odd cut is fine, but this is not a woodworking tool.
What to expect from the batteries
The honest answer is that the listing does not state the battery capacity or a runtime figure, so we cannot promise you a number of minutes or cuts. What we can tell you is what changes runtime on any small cordless grinder:
- What you cut. A few seconds through a bolt or a PVC pipe uses very little charge. Long cuts in thick steel drain a small pack quickly.
- How hard you push. Pressing the disc into the work slows the motor and pulls more current. Let the disc cut at its own pace.
- Heat. A hot battery delivers less and ages faster. In summer, keep packs out of the sun and out of the car dashboard.
The kit includes two batteries, and the listing suggests charging one while you use the other. That is the practical way to work: one pack in the tool, one on the charger. With load shedding, charge both whenever the power is on so you start every job with two full packs. Our cordless battery care guide explains how to charge and store lithium packs in Pakistani heat.
Discs: the 3-inch angle grinder's weak point
A 3-inch angle grinder only works as well as its discs. Use 76mm discs with a 10mm arbor, and check that each disc's maximum RPM is at or above the grinder's listed speed of about 19,500 RPM. That figure is much higher than the 11,000 RPM of our 4-inch corded grinders, so a disc rated only for a 4-inch grinder's speed is not safe here.
Never trim a bigger disc down to fit, and never use a disc with no speed rating printed on it. 76mm discs are less common in Pakistani hardware markets than 4-inch discs, so buy spares when you find the right size and rating rather than waiting until the box is empty.

When to step up to the 21V brushless cordless grinder
Buy the 21V Brushless Cordless Angle Grinder (Rs 16,500) if you need full 4-inch disc depth where there is no socket: solar mounting frames on rooftops, gates and railings on site, or field repairs on a farm. It has a brushless motor, an electronic multi-speed selector and a battery level display, as listed. The listed box contents include one 21V battery and no charger, so confirm on WhatsApp before ordering if you do not already own a compatible charger.
When to step up to a corded 4-inch grinder
If you work near power, a corded grinder is cheaper and never runs flat. The Sared 0401 (850W, 11,000 RPM, M10) costs Rs 4,800, less than the mini kit. The MAX 4 Inch G1004 costs Rs 7,100 and has a cast aluminium gear housing and copper winding. Both take the common 4-inch discs sold in every hardware market and fit most grinder stands and converter kits. For a full comparison including 5-inch models, see our angle grinder price guide.

Who should buy a mini cordless angle grinder
- Plumbers: cutting copper and PVC pipe under sinks and behind fittings, and freeing seized clamps.
- Electricians: trimming conduit and small brackets, and cutting off protruding anchor bolts.
- Auto mechanics: rusted exhaust clamps, bolts and brackets inside engine bays and under cars.
- Tile fitters: trimming and notching wall tile in place, alongside a 4-inch grinder for floor work. Our tile installation tools guide covers the rest of the kit.
- Homeowners: a rusted bolt on a gate hinge, a stuck tank fitting on the roof or a bracket that needs shortening, without running an extension lead.
Who should not buy one: grill and gate makers, steel fabricators, marble and granite fitters, and anyone who grinds for hours a day. Get a corded 4-inch grinder, and add a mini grinder later for the awkward jobs.
Safety with a small grinder
Small does not mean gentle. At about 19,500 RPM the disc is spinning faster than a 4-inch grinder's.
- Keep the guard on and turned so sparks go away from you.
- Remove the battery before changing discs with the hex key.
- Clamp small parts. One-handed use is possible, as the listing says, but the other hand should be holding the work in a vice or clamp, never the piece next to the disc.
- Watch where sparks land. In an engine bay, keep them away from fuel lines and the car battery. Under a sink, move plastic bottles and cleaning chemicals out of the way first.
- Wear eye protection every time, even for a single cut. A shattered small disc is still dangerous.
- Do not side-grind with a cutting disc. Thin cut-off discs are not built for side loads.
