The cordless drill battery price in Pakistan at Punjab Tools starts at Rs 1,600 for our 12V Lithium-Ion Replacement Battery, an insert-style (pod) pack for 12V drills, in October 2026. That is the only battery we sell on its own. Our 21V batteries come inside cordless kits, and the cheapest drill kit with two 21V batteries and a charger is Rs 12,000.
Before you pay for any replacement, from us or anyone else, check three things in this order: the voltage, the shape of the pack (insert or slide-on) and the capacity in mAh. Get the first two wrong and the battery won't fit or won't work properly, however good the price looks.

To be plain about 21V: we don't list a standalone 21V battery on the website right now. Several of our 21V kit listings mention after-sales spare batteries and chargers for that kit, so if you bought one of those from us and a pack has failed, message us the model on WhatsApp and we will check what we can supply. If your 21V drill came from somewhere else, read the matching steps below before buying a pack anywhere.

12V vs 21V: What the Numbers on a Drill Battery Mean
Cordless tool batteries are built from lithium-ion cells joined in series. A 12V pack normally has three cells: it reads about 12V when fully charged and nearer 10.8V in use, which is why some 12V drills are labelled 10.8V. A 21V pack normally has five cells: 21V when full and around 18V in use, the same class of battery sold as 18V or 20V Max in other markets.
| 12V drill battery | 21V drill battery | |
|---|---|---|
| Cells (typical) | 3 | 5 |
| Often also labelled | 10.8V | 18V or 20V Max |
| Size | Small; insert or slide-on | Larger; usually slide-on |
| Typical tools | Light drill-drivers, mini grinders | Hammer drills, impact wrenches, grinders |
| How we sell it | Standalone pack, Rs 1,600 | Inside kits, from Rs 12,000 |
The voltage has to match the tool. A lower-voltage pack leaves the drill weak, and a higher-voltage pack forced onto a tool overloads its motor and switch. If you are still choosing between a 12V and a 21V drill, our best cordless drill guide covers that decision in detail.
How to Match a Replacement Drill Battery
- Read the voltage on your old pack or on the drill's label. 12V and 10.8V are usually the same class, as are 18V, 20V Max and 21V. Anything else, such as 14.4V or 16.8V, is a different battery.
- Identify the pack style. Insert packs (also called stick or pod packs) push up into the handle and lock with side clips; ours has a triangular post, as listed. Slide-on packs slide along rails under the tool. One style will never fit the other.
- Compare the latch and terminals. Count the metal contacts, note where the release buttons sit and look at the shape of the post or rails. Put the old and new packs side by side in a photo if you can.
- Then look at capacity (mAh or Ah). 1,000 mAh is 1.0Ah, so the 1.3Ah pack in our 12V drill kit is 1,300 mAh. At the same voltage, more mAh means longer runtime, a slightly heavier pack and a longer charge. Our standalone 12V pack's listing doesn't state a capacity, so we won't quote one.
- Check the charger. A replacement only lasts if it is charged on a charger made for that pack. Confirm your existing charger takes it before you rely on it.
- Send us photos before you order. A picture of your old battery (top and side) and the drill's label on WhatsApp lets us tell you whether it matches.
Lithium battery for an old drill
Many older and very cheap drills used nickel-cadmium (NiCd) packs, which are heavier and lose capacity if they are topped up before running flat. Lithium-ion has no memory effect, a point our 12V pack's listing makes too, so you can charge it whenever power is available. But you can't just change chemistry: a lithium pack needs a lithium charger. Never charge a lithium-ion battery on an old NiCd charger.
Why "Universal" Batteries Rarely Fit
There is no shared standard for power tool battery shapes. Each maker designs its own rails, latch, terminal layout and sometimes an extra contact that lets the tool or charger read the pack's condition. Two packs both printed "21V" can differ by a few millimetres and simply won't lock in.
So when a seller says "universal battery for power tools", it usually means "fits one common pattern". Our own 12V pack is a good example: its listing calls it a universal fit for standard 12V insert-style drills, naming Starkut and generic 12V models. That covers one family of insert-style drills, not every 12V drill. A 12V drill that takes a slide-on pack won't take it.
The same is true of accessories. Our Cordless Power Tool LED Work Light (Rs 1,150) is listed for standard slide-on 14.4V to 21V packs of the Makita-style pattern. It is universal within that pattern only.
Don't force a near-fit. A pack that wobbles loses contact under vibration, especially in hammer mode, and loose terminals can spark and heat up. Never file the plastic or bend the contacts to make a battery go in.
Replace the Battery or Buy a New Kit?
- 12V insert-style drill, drill still healthy: the Rs 1,600 pack, once the photo check confirms the match.
- 12V drill that also needs a charger, or is worn out: the 12V Compact Cordless Drill & Screwdriver Kit at Rs 4,200 comes with a 1.3Ah battery and a charger. Its listing doesn't describe the battery style, so if you want a spare pack for this drill, ask us before assuming the standalone pack fits.
- 21V tool bought from us: WhatsApp the model first, as above.
- 21V tool with no spare available: a new kit is often the sensible route. The Sared SR-CD-2101-BL at Rs 12,000 gives you a brushless drill, two 21V batteries and a fast charger. Don't assume a pack from one brand's kit fits another brand's tool, even at the same voltage.
Some local shops rebuild packs with new cells. Our battery care guide explains what a proper rebuild needs before you trust one.

Is It the Battery or the Drill?
Before you spend money, make sure the battery really is the problem:
- The drill works fine on a second pack. Then it is the battery.
- The drill spins freely but stalls under load. Usually weak cells, but test with a known good pack before blaming them.
- The charger blinks or won't start. The pack may be too hot, deeply drained or faulty. Let it reach room temperature and try again, then try another pack on the same charger to rule the charger out.
- The drill is dead even with a good pack. Look at the contacts first: cement dust and corrosion on the terminals can feel exactly like a flat battery. If they are clean, the switch or motor needs checking, not the battery. Many budget 21V drills use a 775-size brushed motor, and our 775 High-Torque 21V DC Motor costs Rs 850; confirm the fit with us first.
Make the New Battery Last
Heat shortens lithium battery life more than anything else in Pakistan. The short version:
- Let a hot pack cool for 15 to 30 minutes before charging, and charge it indoors in the shade.
- Never leave batteries in a parked car or on a sunny roof.
- If a pack will sit unused for weeks, store it at about half charge.
- Swap packs when power fades instead of running them completely flat.
For charging on UPS, inverter or generator during load shedding, storage and the warning signs of a failing pack, read our full cordless battery care guide.
Test a new battery as soon as it arrives. The 12V pack's listing gives a checking warranty for cell integrity and charging on arrival, and excludes water exposure, short circuits and physical damage to the terminals. Our warranty policy has the details.
Our Recommendation
- Dead battery in a 12V insert-style drill: the 12V Lithium-Ion Replacement Battery at Rs 1,600, after a quick photo check on WhatsApp.
- Need a light 12V drill with its own charger: the 12V Compact Cordless Drill kit at Rs 4,200.
- Need 21V power and spare packs: the Sared SR-CD-2101-BL at Rs 12,000 with two batteries, or the Zain Max 21V Heavy Duty Cordless Impact Drill at Rs 18,500 for two stated 2.0Ah packs and a 13mm chuck.
- Mechanics: the Sared 21V Brushless Cordless Impact Wrench at Rs 17,500 comes with two 3.0Ah packs; our impact wrench price guide compares it with the Dartek.
